All Aboard

Ecclesiastes 3:1-8

The changing of seasons has always meant something to me. It represents newness, a beginning of something different; what is past is no more. There is hope for better, stronger, being more victorious! Also there is an expectation of God taking me to a place I've never known. 

When we boarded the old coal/steam train, an excitement welled up inside of me. Wonder and expectation of going somewhere I had never been before. I wanted to photograph every turn and climb, the old steam train took through the mountains. I wanted to capture the wonder on children's faces, the joy reflected on the faces of every grown man and woman who climbed aboard the Cumbres Toltec headed for Ozier. Chook-a Chook-a Chook was the sound of the old train as she started down the track. Steam just a pouring out her stack. I noticed I was not the only person raising my bottom off the seat in excitement and leaning out the open window, in expectation of what lied ahead.

TO EVERYTHING THERE IS A SEASON, A TIME FOR EVERY PURPOSE UNDER HEAVEN. Oh Father, Thank you that everyday is a new season - a small space of time I can be in wonder as I watch YOU at work - Whether it be seeing a mother of 4 rejoicing because her two year old made it to the potty, or the beautiful woman who has reached her 80th birthday and is seen with her head bowed in communion with You. No matter what season I am in Father open my spirit to see, smell, taste and touch your goodness.

TO EVERYTHING THERE IS A SEASON, 

A TIME FOR EVERY PURPOSE UNDER HEAVEN: 

A TIME TO BE BORN,

AND A TIME TO DIE;

A TIME TO PLANT,

AND A TIME TO PLUCK WHAT IS PLANTED;

A TIME TO KILL,

AND A TIME TO HEAL;

A TIME TO BREAK DOWN, 

AND A TIME TO BUILD UP;

A TIME TO WEEP, 

AND A TIME TO LAUGH;

A TIME TO MOURN, AND A TIME TO DANCE;

A TIME TIME TO CAST AWAY STONES,

AND A TIME TO GATHER STONES;

A TIME TO EMBRACE, AND A TIME TO REFRAIN FROM EMBRACING;

A TIME TO GAIN,

AND A TIME TO LOSE;

A TIME TO KEEP,

AND A TIME TO THROW AWAY;

A TIME TO TEAR, 

AND A TIME TO SEW;

A TIME TO KEEP SILENCE, 

AND A TIME TO SPEAK;

A TIME TO LOVE,

AND A TIME TO HATE;

A TIME OF WAR, AND A TIME OF PEACE.
