Round and Round That Mountain No More

Round and Round that Mountain No More

How does faith develop in our Spririt

For the Israelites
They had to fail miserably time after time

And watch how their God
Displayed His power
Each and every time
Even when they acted unfaithfully

At some point I believe we all come to a crossroads
Where we've seen the hand of God
Stretched out over our lives
And now He requires us to choose

Choose to
live the same

or

Choose to
Walk out of this land and
Into the promises of our calling

To serve God takes

Turning

Stepping over

Deciding to obey every word He speaks

After the Israelites crossed over the river
Putting Egypt on the other side
It was obvious God had given them a land for which they did not labor

And
Cities which they did not build

They ate of the vineyards and olive trees
They did not plant

I believe they passed the test though

Even if they did go round and round that mountain
They were starting to see Joshua's heart toward God

They concluded
That this God was a jealous God
And would not allow them to serve anything
Other than Himself

Listen to what Joshua tells them

"You cannot serve the Lord, for His is a holy God
He is a jealous God
He will not forgive your transgressions
Nor your sins
If you forsake the Lord and serve foreign gods"

Sometimes the fear of the Lord truly is the beginning of wisdom

The people told Joshua
"No, but we will serve the Lord"

Joshua tells them
"Put away the foreign gods that are among you and incline your heart
To the Lord God of Israel"

I am going to take the liberty to say
The foreign gods they were clinging to
Were things from their past

The things that bound them to Egypt

Captivity

Slavery

Spoils taken along the way
These were all drawing their attention away from God

Hear the dialogue between them and Joshua
"The Lord our God we will serve, and His voice we will obey!"

God Knew the hearts of His people
And
God knows your heart

Listen to the thoughts of God
Before the fact

Joshua 21:43-45
"So the Lord gave to Israel all the land of which He had sworn to give to their fathers, and they took possession of it and dwelt in it. The Lord gave them rest all around, according to all that He had sworn to their fathers. And not a man of all their enemies stood against them; the Lord delivered all their enemies into their hand. Not a word failed of any good thing which the Lord had spoken to the house of Israel. All came to pass."

Oh that I may trust and see the hand of God bring to pass all He has spoken to me

Bless Y'all
Terry
